Gerund คืออะไร?

 

           Gerund (V.ing) ทําหน้าที่เป็นคํานาม (Noun) โดยสามารถทําหน้าที่ได้แตกต่างกันไปในแต่ละประโยค จะอยู่ได้ 4 ตําแหน่ง ดังนี้

 

1. หน้าคํากริยา (Verb) ทําหน้าที่เป็นประธาน (Subject) ของประโยค

                                V.ing (S)       V
              เช่น         Running makes me stronger. 

                      (การวิ่งทําให้ฉันแข็งแรงขึน)
 

      2.  หลังคำบุพบท (Preposition) ทำหน้าที่เป็นกรรมของบุพบท  (Object of Preposition)

                                                               Prepo      V.ing (OP) 

    เช่น         My mom always hugs me before going to work.
                           (คุณแม่กอดฉันก่อนออกไปทำงานเสมอ) 

 

      3.  หลังคํากริยาเชื่อม (Linking Verb) ทําหน้าที่เป็นส่วนเติมเต็มประธาน  
           (Subject Complement) 

                                                    LV     V.ing (SC) 

     เช่น         Her favorite hobby is reading English novels.
                    (งานอดิเรกที่หล่อนชื่นชอบคือการอ่านนวนิยายภาษาอังกฤษ)

      4.  หลังคํากริยาที่ต้องการกรรม (Transitive Verb) ทําหน้าที่เป็นกรรม (Object)

                                                     V          V. ing (O)

              เช่น         The kitten enjoys playing with me. 

                                       (ลูกแมวชอบเล่นกับฉัน)

avoid = หลีกเลี่ยง

              Doctors avoid going to crowded places. 

                    (คุณหมอหลีกเลี่ยงการไปในสถานที่แออัด)

allow = อนุญาต    

              My roommate doesn’t allow smoking in the room. 

                    (เพื่อนร่วมห้องของฉันไม่อนุญาตให้สูบบุหรี่ในห้อง)

admit = ยอมรับ

             Jena admitted making a mistake.

                   (จีน่ายอมรับที่ทำผิด)

appreciate = ยินดี, ขอบคุณ 

             I appreciate having your advice. 

                   (ฉันขอขอบคุณสำหรับคำแนะนำของคุณ)

consider = พิจารณา

             I am considering investing some money.

                   (ฉันกำลังพิจารณาที่จะเอาเงินบางส่วนไปลงทุน)
                       

enjoy = สนุกไปกับ…. 

              Visitors can enjoy observing the process of candy making.

                   (ผู้เยี่ยมเยือนสามารถสนุกไปกับการชมกระบวนการทำลูกกวาด)

dislike = ไม่ชอบ   

             The writer dislikes being criticized.   

                   (นักเขียนไม่ชอบการถูกวิพากษ์วิจารณ์)

discuss = โต้เถียง 

            The employees discuss having a Christmas party.

                   (พนักงานโต้เถียงกันเรื่องที่จะมีปาร์ตี้วันคริสต์มาส)
 

escape = หลบหนี

             The students escape joining online classes. 

                  (นักเรียนหนีการเข้าเรียนออนไลน์)
 

stop = หยุด 

             Jeff stopped talking when the manager entered the room.

          (เจฟหยุดพูดเมื่อผู้จัดการเข้ามาในห้อง)

finish = เสร็จ

             My mom finished doing her housework. 

                  (แม่ของฉันทำงานบ้านเสร็จแล้ว)

mind = รังเกียจ

             I don’t mind handling the task for you.

                   (ฉันไม่รังเกียจที่จะจัดการงานให้คุณ)

involve = เกี่ยวข้อง

             The meeting involves increasing the salary. 

                  (การประชุมเกี่ยวข้องกับการเพิ่มเงินเดือน)

mention = กล่าวถึง, พูดถึง

             My friend mentioned going to France last year. 

                  (เพื่อนของฉันพูดถึงการไปฝรั่งเศสเมื่อปีที่แล้ว)      
 

miss = คิดถึง

              I miss spending time with my boyfriend. 

                   (ฉันคิดถึงการได้ใช้เวลากับเเฟน)

deny = ปฏิเสธ

              The marketer denies making mistakes in the report.
                    (นักการตลาดปฏิเสธการทำผิดพลาดในรายงาน)   

detest = เกลียด

             I detested wasting two hours every day traveling to work.
                  (ฉันเกลียดการเสียเวลาสองชั่วโมงทุกวันในการเดินทางไปทำงาน)

defer = เลื่อนออกไป

             The committee deferred making a decision.
                   (คณะกรรมการได้เลื่อนการตัดสินใจออกไป)
 

continue = ดำเนินต่อ

              My father wants to continue living at home for as long as he can.

                   (พ่อของฉันต้องการอยู่บ้านต่อไปให้นานที่สุดเท่าที่จะทำได้)


practice = ฝึกซ้อม, ฝึกฝน

               Claire practices dancing for the contest next week.
                     (แคลร์ซ้อมเต้นสำหรับการแข่งขันในสัปดาห์หน้า)
 

recall = จำได้, นึกออก

             I don’t recall seeing any cars parked outside.
                   (ฉันจำไม่ได้ว่าเห็นรถจอดอยู่ข้างนอก)

 

remember = จำได้

             I remember meeting her at a party once.
                   (ฉันจำได้ว่าเคยเจอเธอที่งานปาร์ตี้ครั้งหนึ่ง)


resist = ต่อต้าน, ต้านทาน

             The company resists changing its accounts system.
                   (บริษัทต่อต้านที่จะเปลี่ยนระบบบัญชี)

spend = ใช้เวลา/เงิน

             The painter spent 1000 baht buying new watercolor.
                   (จิตรกรใช้เงิน 1,000 บาท เพื่อซื้อสีน้ำใหม่)
 

waste = เสียเวลา/เงิน

             I wasted 40 minutes waiting for a bus this morning.
